...and still no move for a goalie? I actually really like Neuvy when he’s on his game. But when he isn’t...yikes. Of course, I’m not overwhelmed with all the options either. Bill’s spin on the Anderson trade mentioned yesterday wasn’t horrible. An Anderson/Elliott playoff tandem would be good by me. I guess the question is what Elliot looks like when he comes back. Seems recovery time is always suspect in this type of injury. |

I thought that may be the case....i wonder if there’s an out for him if the Flyers can’t find a spot for him next year.....he may want to say (frank) this....I’d rather play at home or the KHL.

I wonder what the origin is of a first name like "Pierre-Luc".
It's like his parents couldn't pick one, so they chose both names. |

Bill mentions 12/23 as the date Konecny moved to the top line. He has since seen quite a bump in ice time and a massive leap in scoring rates. His 20 points in 22 games ranks in the top 40 of the NHL. (21st in P/60). 19 even strength points in 20 games ranks 13th in the NHL.
During the month of December prior to the move to the top line, he was averaging 8:39 in EV TOI, which was 20th on the Flyers (8:34 for Lehtera ranks last). His P/60 was 14th at 0.57 (behind Gudas, Leier, Dale Weise even!). Since Dec 23rd, his P/60 ranks 1st at a whopping 3.43 and he is playing 15 minutes per game (EV).
Make no mistake, he has taken the opportunity to play with two of the best forwards on the team and ran with it. The lineup benefits from more balance as a result. I am sure many can recall a similar experience when he was playing with Coots and Voracek last year. |

could've been a twin but defeated his twin in a deadly battle in utero, thus claiming his name upon birth |

Re the Flyers goaltending:
I think Hextall will make a move. He’s not going to take the chance of Neuvy getting hurt a few days after the deadline and having to roll down the stretch with Lyon/Tokarski

In all seriousness though, this game has the makings of an L. Columbus currently sitting out of a playoff spot, struggling over their last 10 games, it's in Columbus, where the Flyers have not won since I at the time was only married a little over 2 months.
If they get a win I'll be overjoyed, but I'm not feeling confident. |

There are only five games left before the trade deadline and they are all spaced out, so I don't see why Hextall would need to immediately get another goalie. And if it's a guy like Johnson he may only play in the second game of back to backs. |

He should get one long term i do not trust Elliott and Newbies health over a longer period of time. |

I don't know how sustainable his scoring rates are, he's shooting a 19.6% during that time frame. However, it's not just puck luck though. He's using his speed and getting better looks at the net, getting better passes from better linemates also helps in that category. If he stays on that line he probably can finish shooting around middle teens. But, Even if he doesn't keep up the ~1PPG pace he's on, being on a 0.5-0.75 PPG, still keeps him in the 'top 6 forward' category.
He was a very good find in the draft, and I'm glad the Flyers moved up to get him.

I think there is more room to balance the lineup, even if Hextall won't give prospects like NAK, Lindblom and Vecchione a chance they way the Pens have given one to Aston-Reese.
1st line: Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
2nd line: Raffl-Patrick-Voracek
3rd line: Weal-Laughton-Simmonds
4th line: Leier-Filppula-Weise
Buyout Booth: Lehtera |

If they are going to bring up a 4th line guy, I would prefer NAK or Vecchione. I would want Lindblom playing in the middle 6 with some talent.

His goal scoring rate certainly isn't. Not without actual PP time. 9 goals and 10 assists are 5v5 out of his 20 points. He has the skills to do it though |

Bill,
If Neuvirth goes down with an injury with Elliott on IR, what are the chances we see Carter Hart recalled on an Emergency basis? Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Tokarski, Muse are both on minor league deals and would need to be converted to an NHL contract. |
